PLAY ROCKS - The brand new set up at PLAY for live bands is coming. Talk about diversity. PLAY has it in abundance. Not content with being a superb nightclub, PLAY is set to become a premier venue for live music in the area when PLAY ROCKS opens soon.

For two nights a week, Thursday and Sunday PLAY will be host to the top live bands from the local and national scene will be a perfect night out for everyone who is into that live vibe. Whether its hard rock, punk, tribute bands, soul or anything else that floats your boat from Feb 21^st onwards PLAY will be the place to be. The sound system is being tweaked to satisfy the most hardened rocker and there will be great drinks promotions on during the night.

The guy in the know who is taking over the live music nights at PLAY is Danny Blamethrower who has put on some amazing live bands at his nights, called aptly enough, ’Blamethrower Rocks’ at the legendary live music venue TJ’s in Newport. Danny has tons of experience in booking bands and organising gigs and has contacts all over the UK and abroad. There will be two nights dedicated to live music at PLAY, a Thursday which will be very much Rock orientated to include some big names in the alternative music scene and a Sunday which will be more of a Covers Band experience with music for a more eclectic taste. On both nights there will also be a DJ playing alternate music including Indie, hard rock=2 0and power ballads to finish off the night.

Starting proper on Sunday 22^nd Feb will be local band ‘Future Sailors’ a five piece covers band, formed 2mths ago from Merthyr Tydfil. The band members are all seasoned musicians aged between 19yrs & 33yrs and rate their sound as cheeky pop rock with a twist of mod. Interesting! Their influences are wide and diverse and this shows in their set which ranges from The Arctic Monkeys to T-Rex and The Sex Pistols to Paul Weller. PLAY will be taking bookings from bands just starting out in the business as well as longer running acts who already have a core audience and following.

This is a brand new and exciting addition to the event listings at PLAY and promises to be a great night out. Party hard at PLAY ROCKS!
